Catherine Myers Hopkins and husband Dr. Edward Hopkins came to the Sycamore Slough area near Grimes, California with 2 of their 3 children, Andrew and Sophia around 1853. Thaddeus ( FAG#61786481 ) died in Wisconsin. Dr. Hopkins died in 1856 after contracting Malaria.

Catherine married her 2nd husband, Rufus Hoy, and had 3 more children - Elizabeth "Lizzie", Maggie, and William Rufus Hoy FAG#95306839.

Catherine, Dr. Hopkins and Rufus Hoy all share the same obelisk in the Grimes/Sycamore Slough/Grand Island Cemetery. Son 'Willie' Hoy, who died when he was 9 yrs old is buried next to them.
