He was the co-driver along with Horatio N. Jackson who became the first two men to drive across the United States from San Fancisco to New York in 1903. He was the co-driver along with Horatio N Jackson, in which both men became the first to drive across the United States in an automobile. It took them 64 days in 1903 to drive from San Francisco to New York. Ken Burns did a documentary which was aired on PBS titled 'Horatio's Drive.'
