Mr. Samuel J Bell, 66, of Corbin, Ky., was born in Monticello, Ky. on Sept. 7, 1945 to the late Woodrow Wilson and Marie Ozie Southwood Bell, and he departed this life on Jan. 31, 2012 in the VA Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He was a Vietnam veteran and served as a Communication Center Specialist in the 784th Radar Squadron in the U.S. Air Force. During his Vietnam tour he was stationed in Guam from April 1965 to Aug. of 1965, and in Bangkok, Thailand from Feb. 1966 to Dec. 1966 at Don Mong Air Force Base. In addition to his parents, Woodrow and Marie Bell, Sam was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Bell. Sam is survived by his daughters, Jamaine Bell Rice and husband Ross of N.Y., and Angelia Bell Juette and family of Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, Robert J. "Bob" Bell and wife Betty Sue Miles of Corbin, and Mack Bell and Casey Bell; three sisters, Lila Maples and husband George of Somerset, Sarah Lindsey of Calif., and Brenda Roeger. A graveside service for Mr. Sam Bell will be conducted at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Ky., today, Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. with military honors. Burial will follow. Friends may call at the Mill Springs National Cemetery today at 2:30 p.m. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
