He was an Army veteran of World War 11 and a member of the Blinded Veterans Association, the Disabled Veterans and the Higginsville posts of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member of the Heroine Masonic Lodge.

Jack was a member of the Central Christian Church in Higginsville.
