Edgar Robert "Rex" Ott, 59, of 2925 Cochise Lane, died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Columbia, following a two-month illness. Mr. Ott was born May 12, 1917, at Henley, the son of William and Minnie Propst Ott. He was married Feb. 24, 1945, at Tyler, Tex., to Catherine Combs Barnes, who survives.
Mr. Ott was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Post 1003, American Legion, Operating Engineers Local 513 and the Lutheran Laymen's League. He was employed as a hoist engineer.
Other survivors include: three sons, Fred Robert Barnes and Clarence F. Barnes, both of Jefferson City, and Carl T. Barnes, Kansas City; three brothers, Ernest Ott, William Ott and Paul Ott, all of the Jefferson City area; five sisters, Mrs. Ello Blochberger, Mrs. Lawrence Knernschield, Mrs. Oscar Jungmeyer, Mrs. Oscar Schubert and Mrs. Ruth Burton, all of the Jefferson City area; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services, under the direction of Dulle Funeral Home, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Kolthoff officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
