Husband of Pearl Rowell, married in Holmes Country, Ms in 1912. Father of Oscar Junior, and Lee Brown Rowell, Sr.. He was tall with a red beard and black hair. He was a farmer for most of his life, but in the early years of the depression, family legend tells that he became a "bootlegger" in central Mississippi. He didn't distill liquor, instead he ran untaxed liquor. Not trusting banks, he put his fortune (whatever amount that was) in glass jars and buried them near his home. He was jailed and during the time he was in prison, his wife dug up most of his savings. When he returned to Attala County, he was a broken man and died soon after.
