Biographical information for Robert Baird states that he was a son of a James, or a Moses, or a Moses James Baird of New Jersey and then Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Robert Baird first came to Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1777. He and his wife raised four sons and four daughters, according to one biographical sketch from a history of Fayette County. There were also several more who died in infancy or childhood, according to other information. Sons were listed as Alexander, Aaron, Moses, and Robert Baird, Jr. The youngest son, Robert, Jr., was a well-known, educated Presbyterian minister.

The article states that several brothers, John, Moses, & James, also lived here before moving on to Ohio. Their father may also have moved to Fayette County. It is probable that there are more family members buried here. One account relates that there are or were broken stones in this cemetery that were piled up. Most likely there are also unmarked graves, as well as sunken stones.

This Robert Baird was a Revolutionary War veteran. A biographical sketch states that he had 38 grandchildren. His gravestone has not been found for some time. Most likely, it was a stone similar to that of his wife, Elizabeth, with the short inscription that is cited.

"Remember, man, as you pass by,
As you are, so was I.
As I am now, so you must be.
Prepare for death and follow me."

The grave photo that has been posted on this memorial by Ancestor Searcher is not Robert Baird, Sr., it is actually Robert J. Baird, son of Alexander Baird and Nancy French.
