Percy E. LeStourgeon, commanded the 4th Infantry Regiment in the Aleutians and the 349th Infantry Regiment in Italy's Po Valley during World War II. After the war, Col. LeStourgeon controlled a large portion of northeastern Italy and his diplomatic skills helped preserve post-war peace in the region.
