Mildred Hopper, age 90, of Nixa, Mo., died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Christian Health Care East. She was born on Oct. 28, 1913, in Sparta, Mo., the daughter of William Lawrence and Amanda Hance Mayden.
Besides her family, whom she loved very much, she was passionate about her two hobbies, fishing and bowling. She also enjoyed traveling and was a world traveler. She was a territory manager for the Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics Sales Corp. and a cosmetic buyer and manager for Heer's Dept. Store in the 30s and 40s. For over thirty years, she was in charge as territory representative of the city of Chicago and six states.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two half-sisters, and a brother, Frank Mayden.
She is survived by a daughter, Marquita Miller McLin of Springfield, Mo.; a grandson, Randy McLin of Woodland Park, Colo.; a granddaughter, Caron Whitton of Whitefish, Mont.; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Reynolds of Georgia, and Cara Reynolds of Tennessee; a special friend who was like a son, Ronald Buchwald of Oregon; and many other friends.
At Mildred's request, a visitation is planned for Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, between 3 and 5 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Her body will be cremated after the visitation and burial will be at a later date.
No services are planned. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association of Southwest Missouri in memory of Mildred.
