They moved in 1857 to Jackson County, Oregon where he settled near Jacksonville. In 1863 he returned to the Willamette Valley and purchased a farm in Polk County. In 1869 he returned to Benton County, Oregon where he continued to farm until 1878 when he retired and purchased a home near Corvallis.
