Mary Jane Ellis is the daughter of Moses Ellis and Rhoda Patton Ellis. She married Webster C. Bedford Dec. 15, 1870 and they had at least eleven children.

In 1930 Mary Bedford, a 81 year old widow was living with four of her adult children in Loutre township, Montgomery county, Missouri. The children were all single. Ellis was listed as a farmer and his brothers as laborers at odd jobs. Coleman Bedford lived next to them.

Mary Jane (Ellis) Bedford died at the age of 81y, 2m, 9d. She was ill only a few days with bronchitis. She was a widow at the time of her death. The informant on her death record was Ellis Bedford. It stated her mother Rhoda Patton was born in South Carolina.

She left nine children, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 sister, Myra Gower of Fairfield, Missouri. She had 11 children, two have died. She left Coleman, Bruce, Berry and Ellis Bedford.
