Chief Petty Officer Floyd Charles Finley,was born to his parents, William George Finley and Mamie (Lindsey) Johnson, December 1903 in Sedalia, Mo. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa. He raised his age a few years so he could join the Navy. He joined the Segregated Navy in Des Moines, Iowa in 1919. He served in both WWI and WWII. A twenty-five year career of service. During WII, he spent two tours on the Pacific. He was on the USS MaCawley transport ship,when hit by Japanse torpedo in 1943.

He married Helen Calhoun,in Anapolis, Anne Arundel Maryland, Three children were born to Floyd and Helen; Ethel Finley; Floyd, Jr. and Aubrey Jean Finley. He married Lillian Collier in Canada, in 1939; His step-children were; Adoph and Frederick Collier.

Floyd Charles Finley, I., died Feb. 1965, in Chicago, Ill. At the request of his wife Lillian Collier Finley, he was buried at Worth Cemetery, Long Island, Ill, with
his sisters; cousins and many of his long-time friends who
served in the both the Army and Navy.

He served in France during WWI. During WWII, two tours in the Battle on the Pacific; dates from April 2, 1942 until 1945. His final discharge, October 18, 1945.
