Ronald R. Clevenger, 64,of Raleigh went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 14, 2012. He was born on May 3, 1948 in Alma, Michigan to the late Clifford Melvin and Grace Hamlin Clevenger and was preceded in death by his baby infant sister.
Ronald served his country from 1966-1970 in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd class petty officer, during the Vietnam conflict. During the summer of 1970 Ronald met the love of his life, Carla Stoneman. They were married on November 6, 1971 and enjoyed 40 wonderful years together. In 1982 the Clevenger family moved to Raleigh from Alma where Ronald started a career at Carolina Builders that lasted for more than 20 years. He was an active member of Raleigh First Assembly Church, worked with refugee resettlement from Bhutan, Cambodia and Thailand through the Lutheran Family Services.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Carla S. Clevenger, son, Jason Grant Clevenger son, Aaron Tyler Clevenger; daughter, Michelle Waller Pleasant and her husband, Jeremy Sherrill Pleasant; his granddaughter, Haley Ann Waller; and his three brothers, Gary Clevenger, David Clevenger and Dan Clevenger.
His family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 16, 2012 from7:00-9:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh NC 27609 Funeral Service will be Friday August 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at Raleigh First Assembly Church, 3249 Blue Ridge Rd. Raleigh, NC 27612. Interment with military honors will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park following the service.
