Edward C. Doeding, 73, prominent retired Muncie businessman, died early Sunday at the family residence, 2906 W. Jackson St. St., following an illness of several weeks. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, but spent most of his life in this community. He operated the Doeding Coffee Co. for many years and was later engaged in the ice cream business prior to his retirement.
Mr. Doeding was a member of College Avenue Methodist Church and Delaware Lodge of Masons.
Surviving besides his wife, Lina Shafer Doeding, are a daughter, Mrs. Harry A. Inman; a son, George F. Doeding; a sister, Miss Johanna Doeding; and five grandchildren, Fritz and Bruce Inman, Mark and Traci Sue Doeding, and Sandy Turner, all of Muncie.
Services will be held at the Meeks Mortuary at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Donald Barnes, pastor of College Avenue Methodist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2 until 5 and from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday, and any time before the services Tuesday.
