Perry Baker Family - Martha Baker

Perry Baker came to Retlaw in 1916 from Minot, North Dakota.
He returned to Minot in 1917 where he married me, Martha Miller, -October 8, 1917. We went immediately to Retlaw where Perry had a job south of town. In 1920 he worked for Noble driving a string of horses hauling grain. Later that year he moved to Innisfree and farmed for his uncle Oscar Perry for one year. We returned to Retlaw in 1922 and farmed south of town for two years. In December, 1923, we moved to the Leonard Harper farm, where we have lived ever since. We had five children, all boys. Two died at birth, Russel died in 1932 at the age of 12. Perry died in Feb 19 1938;(Headstone states 1937)at their farm NW of Retlaw. Lloyd and Vernon were then only 13 and 8 years old. We stuck it out on the farm and the three of us are still here.

RETLAW, Feb. 23.—The funeral
of the late Perry Baker, who died
from a shotgun wound on Saturday, was held
