∼Laura Bell Clark, daughter of Benjamin I. and Virginia O. Brockett,
and wife of Robert O. Clark, was born September 15, 1869, died
January 17, 1912, aged 42 years, 4 months and 2 days. She was married
February 9, 1888 to R.O. Clark and to this union were born eight
childred, two dying young in infancy, and six--Curtis, Maud, May,
Clifford, Everett, Mildred--were present at their mother's death.
Laura was the oldest of 12 children, she being the fourth to be
taken. The eight remaining are Graham of Queland, Mo., Mrs. Jane
Forsythe of Sylvania, Arl., John, Howard and Mrs. Etta Pyle of
Brownsville, Ill., Edward of Taft, Mo., Mrs. Dr. Boyer of Carmi
and Mrs. Mabel Pyle of Carmi.
Laura's girlhood days were spent in and around Brownsville. Most
everybody knew her. The last few years of her life were spent at
Sacremento, Ill. She professed faith in Christ some five or six
years ago. She never united with the church, yet died trusting in
Him who had done so much for her. Calling her family around her,
she told them she was ready to go and admonished them to live for
God and meet her in the glory world.
Funeral services were held at West Union January 18 at 2 p.m.,
conducted by Elder D.F. Marlin, pastor of First Baptist Church
of Grayville. Interment in cemetary adjoining.
