WESLEY C. EVENSON
Wesley C. Evenson, age 87, formerly of Southbrook Manor, Manitowoc, died on Thursday morning, May 22, 2008, at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1920, in Valders, son of the late Clarence and Isabelle (Woods) Evenson. Wesley was a graduate of Valders High School, class of 1937.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from 1942 to 1945. On Feb. 6, 1942, he married the former Ruth Lettenberger in Valders. She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2006. For many years, Wesley was in partnership with his brother-in-law, Victor Reimer, and together they were owners of Valders Super Service. Wesley was also employed with Manitowoc Engineering and other construction businesses. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Lee and Shari Evenson, and Gary and Mary Evenson, all of Valders; five grandchildren: Jeff Evenson, Mary Ann Evenson Hudson, Brett (Holly) Evenson, Valders; Gretchyn (Jack) Karch, Appleton; Carrie (Nicholas) Kiekhaefer, Appleton; and Heather (David) Voss, Menasha; 10 great-grandchildren: Kailey, Josh, Jason, Madison, Cole, Jenna, Katelyn, Will, Brityn and Owen; and two brothers-in-law: Donald Lettenberger, Manitowoc, and Victor Reimer, Valders. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Ruth; an infant daughter; a sister: Eunice; a daughter-in-law: Carol; and two sisters-in-law: Veronica and Rita.nPrivate family services will be held with burial at Our Saviors Cemetery, Valders. Memorials would be appreciated to St. Paul's Lutheran Building Feasibility Committee.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
