Pearl M. Norris, age 84, of 3504 Hoover Ave, Altoona, Wis., currently residing at The Clairmont Nursing Home, Eau Claire, former Valders resident, died Friday morning, April 25, 2003 at the home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. William Timm with burial at Our Savior Cemetery, Valders. Pearl was born July 24, 1918 in West Sweden Township near Frederic, Wis. in Polk County, daughter of the late William and Anna Peterson Moberg. Pearl attended rural Polk County schools and graduated from Frederic High School with the class of 1936 she then attended Minneapolis Business College, graduating with the class of 1937. Pearl worked at the Rusk County agent s office in Ladysmith, Wis. as a secretary for several years. It was there that she met her future husband. On Nov. 25, 1944 she married Dr. William E. Norris in Ladysmith, Wis. After their marriage, they soon moved to Manitowoc County, eventually settling in Valders. Pearl assisted her husband with his veterinary practice as secretary, bookkeeper and general veterinary assistant for 40 years. While in Valders, Pearl was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. The couple then retired to Eau Claire and Arizona. Survivors include her husband: Dr. William E. Norris, Altoona, Wis; two sons and daughters-in-law: Dale and Connie Norris, Melrose, Wis., Wayne and Karen Norris, Augusta, Wis.; two granddaughters: Gillian (Kyle) Twite and Amber Norris; a sister: Lillian Brown, Eau Claire; and lifelong friend and cousin Evelyn Langhus, Loveland, Colo., several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends also survive. Pearl also was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. The family will greet relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. The visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials would be preferred in Pearl s name to the American Heart Association. The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Valders, is assisting the Norris family with funeral arrangements. Pearl will be lovingly remembered for her kind encouraging words to all her family and friends and her passion to sit down for a game of cards. Five-handed sheepshead with various family members was the hands-down favorite.
