HENRY ONSAGER

Henry L. Onsager, age 70, of Valders, died Sunday, February 8, 1998, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center due to complications of pancreatic cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 1998, at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Rev. William Timm and Rev. Charles Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be at Our Savior’s Cemetery, Valders.
Henry was born in Hillsboro, Wis., on October 13, 1927, son of the late Teresa Michel Onsager and Anton Onsager. He attended grade school in the Czenovia and Elroy, Wis. Areas. At age 12, upon his mothers death, he lived at Homme Home Orphanage, attending school in Wittenberg, Wis. At ag 15, he moved to Valders, residing with the Elmer Thompson family on their farm. Henry was a 1946 graduate of Valders High School, excelling in Athletics. On June 3, 1950, Henry married the former Norma Hagen at Bethany Lutheran Church in LaFarge, Wis. Henry was a truck driver, enjoying over-the-road truck driving for more than 40 years before retiring in 1992. Henry drove for Spancrete of Valders. He and his wife Norma enjoyed traveling throughout the United Sttes and Canada in their fifth-wheeler. They also became golfers, especially enjoying the game during winter months spent in Alamogordo, N.M. He was a Teamster, former Valders Fireman, member of the Sons of Norway, and over the years held positions on the boards of Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Henry, above all, valued his home and family life.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; five daughters and sons-in-law, Terry (Bill) Skally, St. Paul, Minn., Debra (Tom) Keery, Mishicot, Holly Onsager and Todd Fillingham, Milwaukee, Patti (Jim) Reyburn, Pulaski, Wis., and Signe Onsager, Pewaukee, Wis.; grandchildren, Michelle Crane, Rebecca Skally, Chad Skally, Amy Pickette, Ivory Reyburn, Robert Reyburn, Michael Keery, Brian Keery, and Joseph Henry Onsager Fillingham; brothers Martin Onsager and Louis Onsager, and sister Shirley Williams. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at Faith Lutheran church on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.
Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a special Memorial Fund will be established.
