It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John F. Dempsey, on Monday, August 13, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM.
John was born on February 3, 1949 in Silver City, NM to Rex and Frances Jean Dempsey.
John graduated from Cobre High School in Bayard in 1967.
John served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
After his discharge at Barbers Point NAS, John earned a degree in Political Science at the University of Hawaii, married and had a daughter, Leila.
John divorced and moved to Albuquerque, NM where he worked for Pony Express Courier and Mesa Oil. John re-married and had one son, Christopher and step-daughter Teresa. John moved to his parents' home in Hurley, worked at WalMart and attended Western New Mexico University. John returned to Albuquerque, NM in 2001 and worked at the Carlisle WalMart for the remainder of his life.
John was an avid photographer and shared his talents with many.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Leila.
John is survived by his son, Christopher, sisters, Diana and Tom Gossett of Albuquerque, NM, Phyllis Sinski of Pinellas Park, FL, Debbie, Andy and Matthew Hisatake of Honolulu, HI and many caring friends.
Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Santa Fé National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe St., Santa Fé, NM.
