Mrs. Ida Baker Moore, 67, widow of Melvin F. Moore, died about 7:45 o'clock Friday morning at the Woodford Memorial hospital. She was stricken ill eight days before and was removed to the hospital Sunday, Jan. 19.
Mrs. Moore was a daughter of John and Mary E. Phelps Baker. She was born in Washington county Oct. 14, 1873. Her parents moved to Woodford county during her childhood. She was married in November 1893, to Mr. Moore, who died June 14, 1938.
She was a woman of unusually sweet, gentle and unselfish nature. In all the relations of life, as wife, mother, sister and friend her fine character was manifest. The hearts of many friends mourn her passing. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Christian church.
Mrs. Moore is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Anthony Thomson and Mrs. Gerald Clark, both of Lexington; Mrs. C.T. Neal, Anderson, Ind., and Miss Bess Moore, Woodford county; two sons, Raymond Moore, Lexington, and Robt. Moore;this county; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Edna Olson, Versailles, and Mrs. Clarence L. Moore, Woodford county, and a brother, Robert L. Baker, Scotland Neck, N. C.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Mrs. Moore's late home on the Troy pike, conducted by the Rev. Jack M. Ervin, pastor of the Versailles Christian church; and the Rev. J.D. Arbuckle, pastor of Troy Presbyterian church. The burial took place in the Versailles cemetery. The pall-bearers were Anthony Thomson, Gerald Clark, John W. Leedy, C.O. Mattingly, Arthur Black and Felix Poole.
