ABBAS

Michelle Lynn Abbas, youngest daughter of Barb and Kenneth Kittle and Gordon Abbas, was born May 20, 1971, in Chariton and departed on March 25, 1989, after a fatal car accident near Bloomfield. She was 17 years, ten months and five days old.

Shelli, as she was known to her friends, was preceded in death by her grandfather, Walter Abbas and dear friend, Betty Henderson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mom, Barb Kittle and step-dad, Kenneth Kittle; her father, Gordon Abbas and step-mother, Abby; one brother, Aaron of Russell; one sister, Tammy of Chariton; a half-sister, Tina of Altoona; and two step-brothers, Todd and Tony of Chariton.

Also surviving are her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Krutsinger of Russell, Madonna Chmelik of Albia and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Golob of Melrose; her boyfriend, Mark Henderson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shelli lived most of her life in and near Russell. She attended Russell School up to November of her tenth grade year, then a move took her to the Chariton Schools.

Shelli was a hard worker; she never asked for anything. If there was something she wanted, she saved for it. Shelli worked several part-time jobs, evening and weekends. She was always willing to help and she gained a lot of love and respect from many, many people.

Shelli loved and lived music; to each song she played she brought joy or sorrow, peace or pain, whatever that song might have meant to her.

God gave her to us for such a short time, but she lived every day to its fullest and left behind precious memories we can cherish forever. As Shelli would tell us: "Don't Worry, Be Happy!!"

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 29, 1989, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Methodist Church of Chariton, conducted by Rev. Lynn Ryon, with music by Steve Orwig and Mrs. Virginia Orwig. Pallbearers were David Orwig, Morgan Masters, Norm Bennett, Erik Rolfstad, Wally Jurgens and Brian Larrington. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
