DIES AFTER ILLNESS;
FUNERAL IS THURSDAY

Mrs. Ida Lee Satterfield died Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Locklear, 2003 Highland Cir., following an illness of three years, her condition became serious a month ago.

Affectionately known as "Miss Ida", Mrs. Satterfield was born in Cherokee County, Ala., November 26, 1872 daughter of the late John B. and Lydia Ellen Griffin Kelley, pioneer citizens of Cherokee County. She was married to J. J. Satterfield Dec. 24, 1892. He died October 28, 1910.

Mrs. Satterfield was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, an active member of the American Red Cross during World War I and a Gold Star Mother of World War I.

Surviving, in addition to her daughter, Mrs. Locklear are three sons; John B., Ovie L., and O. R. Satterfield, all of Rome; one brother, M. M. Kelley, of Gadsden, Ala.; one sister; Mrs. Lucy Adams, of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Stover, pastor of the North Rome Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

The following will serve as pallbearers: W. N. Cochran, Jessie J. Freeman, Carl Hughes, Mark Webb, R. D. Brock, and Eldred Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will include W. H. Thompson, Jack Battle, J. C. Adams, C. S. Boddie, W.R. Davis, and Bill Rogers.

The body will be carried to the residence at 5 p.m. today to lie in state until the funeral hour.
