Her first name was Martha and her maiden name was Taylor. NC Marriage Bonds show she married Franklin G. Simril on September 15, 1834 in Meck. County (marriage bond date)

Information from Robert Neely (Member# 47422388):

The Mecklenburg County Estate File of John Taylor 1830, proves that she was his daughter, who he names Martha Starr (Taylor) in his 1830 Will. The proof is in the form of a detailed division of her legacy in 1835. She is referred to as Martha Simril, alias Taylor, legate of John Taylor's Will. Her husband, Franklin G. Simril, also appears on many pages of the Estate File, as he was Guardian for Martha's three youngest Siblings.


Her mother, Mary (Neely) Taylor, recorded that her daughter Patsy Starr Taylor was born on 18 September 1812. Her mother's father, Moses Neely, recorded her as Martha S. Taylor, born the same day in his own Bible. All lived near Steele Creek in Mecklenburg Coungy.


Starr was the maiden name of Moses Neely's mother. Martha may have been given it to honor her.
