SPRINGFIELD—A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene for Alvin L. Alford of Springfield, who died Oct. 13 of age-related causes. He was 83.
He was born March 3, 1925, in Reedsport to William and Addie Hatfield Alford. He married Leora Maxwell on July 15, 1945, in Eugene.
Alford graduated from Eugene High School in 1943. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a gravel truck driver for Lane Gravel Co. and Delta Sand & Gravel Co.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Alford of Eugene and Garry Liston of Arvada, Colo.; a brother, Richard of Winchester Bay; a sister, Enola Burke of Springfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1985.
