Sylvester Thompson died Monday afternoon at his residence in this place of organic heart trouble. Aged 68 years. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. O. E. Haley after which the remains were interred at the Scottsburg cemetery.
Sylvester Thompson was born in Jefferson county, Ind., May 21, 1843, and died in Scottsburg, Ind., June 5, 1911, aged 68 years, 15 days.
He was married to Mary T Mitchell, Aug. 31, 1864. To this union was born one child, Mrs. W. T. Hubbard, of this place.
He leaves, beside the wife and daughter, three grand-children and a half brother, Ben. F. Thompson, of Trafalgar, Ind.
He lived in Scottsburg more than 22 years, was a steady, reliable citizen, and a member of the M. E. church since his 18th year."
