He served in the Navy until 1960. Upon his honorable discharge, he furthered his education in Minneapolis at Brown Institute.
In 1963, he married his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Mattsfield. The couple had three sons, Thomas, Michael and Steven.
He began his career as an Electronics Technician first at Boeing Corp. in Seattle, making several other stops before starting a 28-year career at IBM taking him through Poughkeepsie and Boulder, finally settling in Rochester.
Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bacon; two brothers, Robert (Mary) Bacon, and David (Phyllis) Bacon; three sons, Thomas (JoAnne), Michael (Michelle) and Steven (Michelle). In addition, he has seven grandchildren, Connor, Emma, Tessa, Ali, Piper, Brady and Hayden.
Bill was a wonderful husband and father, putting all else in front of himself.
