Billie June "Queenie" RICHEY ASHLEY HAMMOND gently died June 15, 2009. Born June 14, 1922, Blanchard, OK, the only child of Thomas Alphus RICHEY & Jewel Dealva WYNN, she shared her June 14th birthday with husband Jack ASHLEY, son Lyle, and sister-in-law Marjorie ASHLEY CROWDER. Billie June graduated 1939 San Jacinto High School, Houston.
Queenie married Jack Vickrey ASHLEY 0n 4 June 1939, Park Place Baptist, Houston, TX' ending after 38 years with his death on 27 Aug 1977. They were wonderful parents of Tom, Jackie, & Lyle whom they raised in South Houston & Pasadena. She was medical secretary for Drs. Wallace & Herrera. She & Jack were very active in the Gulf Coast Airstream Club, traveling extensively, playing bridge along the way. They also owned and operated Mobile Hosts Trailer Park in Goodrich TX.
Queenie was blessed again to marry Joseph Wm HAMMOND on 2 Dec 1978, Club Lakeview, Waller Co, TX, ending after 20 years with his death on 1 Jun 1999. Most of those years they enjoyed their business of "Queenie's Antiques And!" in Waller until retiring to Panorama TX shortly before his death. She was a member of Woodlands Church of the Nazarene, and attended Conroe Presbyterian while a resident at Carriage Inn in Conroe.
She is survived by her children: Wm Thomas & wife Glenda (TODD) ASHLEY of Palestine TX ; E.Lyle & wife Janet (McGAVIN) ASHLEY of Conroe TX ; Jacqueline June (ASHLEY) PACE & husband Jerry PACE of The Woodlands TX.
