Robert C. Fike, 63, of Waynesburg, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg. He had been in his usual health, and death was due to an apparent heart attack.
He was born Thursday, March 16, 1944, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Joseph W. Fike and Effie Mae McDowell Fike.
He was a member of Throckmorton United Methodist Church, Eastview, and also a member of Waynesburg Eagles Lodge Aire 598 and Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
For 29 years, he worked for Greene County Memorial Hospital as a certified aide.
Mr. Fike always enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are two sisters, Inez Horner and Margaret (Peg) Ross, both of Waynesburg; a brother, Jack A. Fike of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Martin Louis Fike.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville, where graveside military rites will be accorded by James Farrell American Legion Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all of Waynesburg, and representatives from the 99th Regional Readiness Command.
The family request that friends and family gather for food and a time of sharing about Mr. Fike at noon Monday, October 29, in Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461, Greene Street, Waynesburg.
