Brig. General George H. Priest was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and colonel of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia.

Son of Charles A. & Emily (Bailey) Priest, he was graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1883.

He also served as city councilor for five years and was an active Mason, attaining the highest position.

He married Marion L. Works on Nov. 15, 1887.

Priest enlisted in Co. B, 6th Regt. "Fusiliers" on June 8, 1885. There promoted from private to corporal, then discharged a sergeant Feb 20, 1888.

Service includes Spanish-American War (May 13, 1898-Jan 21, 1899.)
