In 1739 Job Ruston bought 425 acres from the estate of Letitia Aubrey daughter of William Penn & Gulielma Maria "Guli" Springett. Part of this land was in Upper Oxford Township, where Ruston built a house on the site later owned by William Shaw. In 1747/8 he was a Captain in charge of a company of soldiers from Chester County which fought in the French and Indian Wars.
In 1780 Oxford Twp. Job owns 10 slave. Will dated 17 Jan 1784 Probated 1 Feb 1785. Upon his death he was in possession of 12 slaves, some are named in his will including: Jacob, Bill, Bess, Pegg, Will, George, Dinah, Nell, Jem, Flora.
