Charlie was born in Bosqueville, Texas, to the late David and Mary Harrell. He attended Bosqueville Schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18, serving during World War II receiving three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. After his Honorable Discharge, he attended Baylor University.
Charlie owned and operated the Mobil Service Station in Waco on the Circle for 17 years, later working for Bird Kultgen Ford for 25 years and retiring in 1988.
He married Johanna Scardino on June 3, 1955. Charlie was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as a Shriner. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife.
He was preceded in death by three sisters; and six brothers.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Johanna; sisters-in-law, Alyeda Harrell, of Bosqueville, and Ann Connorty, of Temple; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Rex.
