Johnny A. Spencer, 68, Hanover Road, Ridgeway, died Tuesday night in Morehead Hospital, Eden, N.C. where he had been a patient for nine days.
He was a retired employee of Bassett Furniture Industries with 50 years service. A Patrick County native, he was born June 22, 1905 to the late Peter Spencer and Mrs. Bertha Spencer. He had made his home with a son in Ridgeway for several years.
Surviving are three sons, Patrick H. Spencer of Ridgeway, Steven Spencer of Collinsville and J. D. Spencer of Martinsville; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Haley of Collinsville, four bothers, Noel Spencer, Obie Spencer, David Spencer and Roy Spencer, all of Bassett, two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Vaughan and Mrs. Maggie Bowman of Bassett.
Funeral services will be Friday at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the home at Ridgeway Thursday from Bassett Funeral Home.
