Corporal Brock was killed by mortar fire in Thua Thien, South Vietnam, while serving with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne. He was posthumously promoted to Corporal and was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star with "V" Device, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the RVN Military Merit Medal.
