Betty was born in East Jordan, Michigan and attended school there. Shortly after finishing high school, Betty met Wilbur Wallace Bender, who was then a member of the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in Charlevoix, Michigan, and married him in the Lutheran Church in Boyne City, Michigan, 3 Sep. 1941. During WWII Wilbur was stationed variously in Beaver Island, Michiagn and Chicago, Illinois. After WWII Wilbur and Betty lived in East Jordan and Traverse City, Michigan where their daughter Frances Jean and sons, John Henry and William Paul, were born. They then moved to Missouri where Wilbur was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad and their fourth child, Edward Andrew was born. Wilbur died 19 Jun 1972 in Montgomery County, Missouri and was buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis Missouri.
On 25 January 1975 Betty married Carl Losh in Melbourne, Florida and lived there for some time before settling in West Virginia, where Carl was born, and lived there the remainder of their lives. Betty had sugar diabetes and succomb to this affliction in Summerville, West Virginia, 30 June 2001.
