Leola M. Abbey, age 93 of Concordia, died Mon., Aug. 27, 2012 at Sunset Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 12, 1919 in Formoso, KS to Christian & Minnie (Sherbondy) Huber.
She married Don E. Abbey on Dec. 24, 1940 in Clyde, KS. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2004.
Leola worked for Chris' Restaurant, the Swede Nelson's Toy Shop before working as an assistant for Blackwood Chiropractic for 30 years. She was a member of VFW & American Legion Auxiliaries and the Ladies of the Moose. She and Don were avid dancers and rarely missed a dance at the Legion, VFW or Moose. Leola moved to Sunset Nursing Home in 2008 and enjoyed all the activities, especially playing dominoes.
She is survived by her daughters, Evonne Moe, Glasco & Alta Jean Ginn (Ward, Jr.), Great Falls, VA; daughter in law, Bev Abbey, Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Harriett Huber, Concordia; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren & nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Don Edwin Abbey, son in law, Eldon Moe, parents, sister, Mildred & brothers, Vachel, Milo, Harold, Warren & Lyle Huber.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Thurs. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am to 9 pm with family greeting friends from 7-8 pm, Wed. at the funeral home.
