Mrs. Alla Mae Jacobs Bowen, 91 of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012, at her residence.

Born in Blackshear on July 22, 1921, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker. Her first priority was her family – not only taking care of them but teaching them to first and foremost love their Lord. A mother to 13 children, she was constantly cooking, cleaning or tending to a child but always had time to do for others in her community whether it was cooking, sewing, delivering groceries or caring for other's children.

Mrs. Bowen was a member of Journey at Faith Christian Fellowship Church. She loved to talk about Jesus and was a true prayer warrior.

She and her husband, Jackson T. Bowen, loved having visitors and always made them to feel welcome in their home.

A legacy of faith and love is her gift to her family. What a blessing she has been to them all.

Mrs. Bowen was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson & Ella Pearson Jacobs. She was also preceded in death by 3 children, Libby Ray Bowen, Sonny Bowen and an infant son. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ken Bowen; all of her eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of almost 74 years, Jackson Thomas "Jack" Bowen of Blackshear; 8 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Zane Howard of Blackshear, Mavis & Larry Hughes of Waycross, Lydia & Tony Lee of Blackshear, Margaret & Jackie Bennett of Blackshear, Nancy & Sammy Dixon of Thomasville, Marie & Dwight Deloach of Blackshear, Cynthia & Lanny Williams of Blackshear and Donna & Mark Patterson of Blackshear; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy & Lois Bowen of Lithonia and Terry & Jane Bowen of Blackshear; 25 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren and one more on the way.
