Mr. T.J. McGILL DIED SATURDAY MORNING
Well-Known Citizen Passes Away After Long Illness.
Mr. T.J. McGill died at his home on Lee street Saturday morning after a long illness from heart trouble. Mr. McGill had been in declining health for several years; and for months very little hope was entertained for his recovery. Mr. McGill came to Dawson from Webster county when a young man and began clerking for Mr. Speight Baldwin, which position he held until he opened a mercantile establishment of his own, which he conducted successfully for a number of years. At the time of his death he was 55 years of age and was one of the city's best known citizens. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Messrs. Ray McGill of Chicago, Cecil McGill of Atlanta and Eddie McGill of Dawson. The interment was in Cedar Hill cemetery Sunday morning, Rev. J.M. Outler, pastor of the Methodist church officiating.
Father was Thomas Jefferson McGill, born 11 September, 1835 and was killed while fighting in the Civil War on 3 October, 1862 in Charleston, SC.
