He was born March 27, 1922, in Manchester, the son of Usilio and Aldoina (Quinti) Agostinelli. He attended school in New York City and began an apprenticeship as a baker.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, in North Africa, during World War II, also as a baker, he returned to New York and purchased the G & S French Pastry Shop. He moved to Manchester, where he continued in his trade at various restaurants and bakeries.
He worked for many years at the Meadowland Restaurant, in New Britain and was still working at the Unicorn Polish Bakery in Vernon, at the age of 77. He enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and good music. He loved animals and particularly enjoyed his many pets.
Roland is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; sons, Ronald Agostinelli and companion, Pat of Vernon, Richard Agostinelli and his wife, Sharon of East Hampton, Alan R. Dunphy and wife, Joanne of Pittsfield, ME, Wayne Dunphy and wife, Susan of Eagan, MN and Gordon "Butch" Gower and wife, Roseann of St. Albans, ME; daughters, Doreen Hollister and husband, Gary of Tolland, Laura McLellan and husband, Bob of Willington, Denise Hartley and husband, Nick of Columbus, OH and Mari White and husband, Rick of Pittsfield, ME; 18 grandchildren; and a great granddaughter, Ava Marion Kane.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 28, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, ME, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 10 a.m. with the Rev. Andrew Gibson, officiating.
