FRANKLIN - Alice May Schriner, 93, former Hyannis teacher, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 9, 1910, northeast of Franklin.
Her parents were Gustave and Elizabeth (Grebe) Grube. She attended District No. 34 rural school and graduated from the eighth grade, then graduated from Franklin High School in 1927 with a teaching certificate. She taught for 22 for Franklin rural schools and three years for Minden Junior High School. In 1951, she moved to Hyannis where she taught for 24 more years and also graduated from Chadron State College. She also was employed by Mooney's Grocery Store when not teaching. She retired from full-time teaching in 1970, and moved back to Franklin in 1990. In May 2002, she moved into Franklin Health Care Center. She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Hyannis and the First Methodist Church of Franklin, and the Kings Daughters. She is survived by her step-daughter Sharon Freund of Gardner, Kan.; two step-grandsons and four step-great-grandsons.
Mrs. Schriner's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Hutchins Funeral Chapel of Franklin, Neb., with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Franklin.
