MARION — Mr. Dewey Emanuel Alford, 83, died Friday, September 15, 2006, at his residence after an illness. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2006 in Palmetto Memorial Gardens Cemetery directed by Richardson Funeral Home.

Born in Marion, he was a son of the late Pearlie Dubose Alford and Leila W. Pace Alford. Mr. Alford was of the Methodist faith and a high school graduate. He was a veteran having served in the Navy during World II. He was retired and a co-owner of a dairy business.

Survivors are his wife, Miriam S. Alford, of the home; two daughters, Peggie A. Conant and Carl of Columbia and Ann Alford of Marion; two sisters, Olivia Whitaker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Betty Weicht of Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 grandson; and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by two brothers, P.D. Alford, Jr. and Walter H. Alford.
