Arthur Emery Genung, 69, well-known farmer of Coe and Cordova townships, died at 9:30 this morning in his home mile east of Cordova. He had been ailing several years. Mr. Genung, son of Henry and Matilda Buckley Genung, was born to Pike county, Pennsylvania, Jan. 23, 1869, and came to Illinois as a boy. He was educated in Zuma and Fairfield schools. On March 8, 1893, be married Mary Rosencrans in Pike county, Pennsylvania, and the couple farmed thereafter in Coe and Cordova townships. Nineteen years ago they moved from Coe to Cordova. Mr. Genung was formerly a road commissioner and Coe township treasurer. He was a member of the farm bureau, and was chairman and deacon of the Cordova Baptist church several years, holding office it the time of death. Mr. Genung was the last survivor of a family of five brothers and sisters. He is survived by the widow; two sons, Harry of Minneapolis and Clarence Genung of Cordova; one daughter, Mrs. .Gladys Benson of Cordova, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, at 2 in the home and it 2:30 In Cordova Baptist church. The Rev. C. K. Dean of Berwick, former Cordova Baptist pastor; the Rev. L. A. Smith, present pastor, and the Rev. W. H. Parker, pastor of the Bethel Baptist church of Coe township, will participate in services. Burial will be in Cordova cemetery. The body was taken to the wendt funeral home at Port Byron.
