He began his career with the Chicago police in 1922. He was promoted to chief of detectives in 1949 and served in that capacity until 1953. He was involved in many high profile cases during that time.
On January 18, 1953, he was assigned to the Shakespeare Avenue police station in Chicago to serve as Captain, until he retired in July of 1956.
