Eureka, SD-Funeral service for Ella Odenbach, 95, of Eureka will be 10:30 am, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Eureka Reformed Church. The Rev. Richard Stetler will officiate.

Burial in Eureka City Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service Wednesday at 7 pm with visitation from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Ella died July 23, 2012 at Avera Eureka Health Care Center.

Ella Dockter, daughter of Gottlieb and Christine (Vilhauer) Dockter was born August 11, 1916 on the family homestead two miles north of Venturia, ND. This is where she grew up and attended country school, later Venturia Public School.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Odenbach on July 24, 1936 in Eureka. They made their home on a farm 16 miles northwest of Eureka where they were general farmers for the next 30 years. In 1968 they had a farm sale and moved to Aberdeen. Ella worked at various jobs and in 1975 they moved to Eureka. Arthur died September 9, 1989 and Ella continued to make Eureka her home.

Ella enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. Ella and Arthur traveled all over the United States to visit family from coast to coast.

She was a member of Eureka Reformed Church and the Ladies Aide.

Ella is survived by one son, Steven (Marjorie) Odenbach of The Woodlands, TX, one daughter, Josephine (Jim) Lang of Eureka, one son-in-law, Bill Heidemann of Thousand Oaks, CA, one sister-in-law, Wolla Sayler of Ashley, ND, five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, one daughter, Grace Heidemann, six brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

The casketbearers will be Scott Odenbach, Eric Odenbach, Joel Odenbach, Andrew Lee, Troy Lang and Eric Lang.

The organist will be Julie Bentz and there will be a duet by Charles Koerner and Percy Neuharth.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka has been entrusted with arrangements.
