Mary was the daughter of Allen Willis and Sarah/Sallie Hovater. Under the name of Mollie Willis she married 14 Oct 1883 Thomas Sherman Wesson in Lauderdale Co AL. They had 2 sons and 4 daughters: Arthur Theophilus (1884-1947), Oscar Roscoe (1888-1927), Eva Osteen (1891-1986), Myrtle Elaine (1894-1965), Audie Gertrude (1898-1973), and Della Nemai (1901-1976).

According to a WPA list dated 1934 her marker read wife of T.S. Wesson: She was a kind and affectionate wife and fond Mother and a friend to all.

From about mid-1890s past 1910, she and Thomas had living with them his half-sisters Mary and Lucinda, and, for a short time her father, Allen Willis, who died in their home.

According to a granddaughter, she believed in cleanliness.
