LANDER – Services for Lander resident Loucille Charlotte (Kiesel) Adams, 92, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Mount Hope, in Lander by the Rev. Bob Eldan of Trinity Episcopal Church of Lander.

She died on her birthday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Lander Valley Medical Center, from complications after a fall.

Born Aug. 10, 1910, in Lander, she was the daughter of Charles K. Kiesel and Adelaide P. Mueller. After parents' deaths, she and her sister, Thelma, attended St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, Neb. She graduated from high school in Fairfield, Minn.

Returning to Wyoming in 1927, she lived on the Noble Ranch and became a teacher in the Dubois, Crowheart and Twin Creek areas.

On June 5, 1932 she married James Keith Adams in Lander.

After raising her family, she started working at Fremont County Public Library in 1951 and, eventually, became the children's librarian. In September 2000, she was recognized by the Wyoming Library Association.

She was a former den mother for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and a troop leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts.

A charter member of the Wyoming Archaeological Society, she served as an officer for the state association and Fremont County Flintstones Chapter. In 1988, she and her husband shared the Golden Trowel award; and, that same year, she earned an individual Golden Trowel. She was awarded an honorary membership in 2000.

She was a member of the Lander Rock Club and the couple belonged to the American Rock Research Association and Fremont County Historical Society. They enjoyed traveling throughout the West and Southwest, searching for rock art and scenery to photograph; and visited family around the country.

Survivors include four children, Kay Marie Miller of Pine Valley, Calif., Charles Keith Adams of Casper, Yvonne A. Adams of Martinez, Calif., and Douglas James Adams of Tukwila, Wash.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, three infant brothers, and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to Fremont County Archaeological Society or a charity of the donor's choice, in care of Hudson's Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Drive, Lander 82520.
