Nancy Elizabeth was the daughter of William M. Bickham and Matilda Miller. Her birth is recorded in the William M. Bickham bible. A copy of this bible is on file at the public library in Shreveport, LA. The death of Nancy is recorded in the Samuel and Laura Attaway Haney bible.

When Nancy passed away the area would have been known as Berwyn, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. At that time Oklahoma was not a state and Carter County did not exist.

Nancy married Benjamin Franklin Attaway 21 December 1843 in Caddo Parish, Louisana. Benjamin and Nancy are found on the following census records - 1850 Kaufman County, Texas, 1860 Lafayette County, Arkansas, 1870 Montgomery County, Texas and 1880 Hill County, Texas.

Benjamin F. Attaway passed away sometime between the 1880 census of Hill County and the 1890 Census of Pickens County, Indian Territory. His place of burial is unknown. Nancy and some of her children moved to this area about 1889 and are found living there at the time of the 1890 census.

Known children of Nancy and Benjamin F. Attaway were: William W., Laura Elizabeth HANEY, Mary Matilda JONES KEYES, Alfred, Julia E. KNIGHT, John Dolphus and Elisha B.
A descendant of Mary Matilda Attaway Jones Keys told me that her grandmother told her that Nancy was buried at this cemetery west of the grave of Laura Attaway Haney. This grave is at this time unmarked.
