Debbie worked with G.A. Insurance in Truro for many years and moved with that company to Halifax, becoming Aviva Insurance, from where she retired in 2010 after 35 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed cross-stitching, flower gardening, shopping, going to antique car shows and watching the Nascar races with Steve. Debbie loved her family dearly and looked forward to looking after Janice's grandchildren whenever she could. Also an avid animal lover, she loved her Rottweilers.
Along with her mother, Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Steve; sisters, Brenda (Keith) Fisher, Alton, Colchester County; Janice (Harley) Redmond, Brookfield; brother, James (Leona) Burris, Truro; special aunt, Jacqueline Diamond, Truro; nieces, Anita, Tawnya, Blair; nephews, Craig, Colin, Cody; cousins, Karen White, Paul Diamond. Along with her father, she was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, John and Hilda Pitts; paternal grandparents, Fred and Lucy Burris; aunt, Carolyn Pitts.

All are welcome to attend a graveside interment service that will be held 2 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2012, in Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley (Across from Lafarge Cement Plant).
