Esther A. Behnke, age 82, of Sylmar, Calif., died Friday, December 27, 1996 at her home.
Funeral services were held at Utter-McKinley Mission Hills Mortuary, California. Rev. Marcus Reid officiated.

Mrs. Behnke was born Dec. 23, 1914 in Maple Grove, daughter of the late William and Bertha Becker Luedtke. She married Theodore Behnke Sept 12, 1934, in Reedsville. He preceded her in death in 1969. They moved from Brillion to Manitowoc in 1959 and to California in 1967. She was a member of The United Brethren Church, Brillion, Calvary Assembly of God, Manitowoc and Sylmar First Assembly of God, California.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Bernice Behnke; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Daniel Leitner; seven grandchildren, all of California; one sister, Verona Kraus, Manitowoc; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ella Luedtke, Augusta Behnke, Theresa and Ed Collette, Elsie and Henry Dassow, Walter and Mildred Behnke. Many other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Fetzer, a brother, Clarence Luedtke; and numerous family members.
