For J. J. Collins
Funeral services for John Jefferson Collins were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Collins died Monday morning in an Elk City hospital after an extended illness.

John J. Collins
Funeral services for John J. Collins, a long time-time resident of Hammon, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Hammon Baptist Church with Hugh Collett officiating.
Burial was in the Red Hill cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home.
Mr. Collins was born October 18, 1885 in Little Rock,(sic) Ark.,(sic) and died Monday, his 80th birthday, in an Elk City hospital.
He was married to Ellen Mae Pass in Gray Tex., August 8, 1906. They moved to the Hammon area in the early 1900's and lived here ever since. He was a retired harness and leather shop worker and a member of the First Christian Church in Elk City.
Survivors include his widow of the home address; 2 sons, Beauford Collins, La Mesa, California, and Oran Collins, Lemon Grove, California; 5 daughters, Mrs. Elra Bailey, El Cajon, California; Mrs. Aubrey Buchannan, Woodward; Mrs. Ruth Irwin, Hamon;(sic) Leona Kane, Longview, Texas; and Nellie Pittman, Oklahoma City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Evie Tomkins, Weatherford, and Mrs. Lettie Youngblood, Los Angeles, California; a brother, Fred Collins, Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Note: Birth location in the obituary is considered to be in error. Suellen Dennis found his World War I draft registration card dated 6/1917 which he filled out and states his dob/place is in Wilkes county, Georgia 10/18/1885.
